Our Vision and Mission

Our vision

To be the driving force and the primary and preferred partner in Europe and beyond for all spinal care issues.

Our mission

  • Optimise patient care and prevention of spinal disorders
  • Provide and support best practice life-long learning, research and quality assurance
  • Bring together all spine-related European stakeholders across disciplines, cultures and countries

Our Mission-Critical Activities

EUROSPINE delivers its vision and mission through five mission-critical activities—our core offerings for spine care across Europe and beyond. They create practical value for members, partners, and national societies through collaboration, education, evidence, and quality improvement, supported by the EuSSAB platform.

  • Membership & Community: Connects spine professionals and national societies (EuSSAB) to strengthen collaboration, representation, mentorship, and early-career development.
  • Annual Meeting: Europe’s leading spine forum for research, innovation, networking, and best-practice exchange—with growing digital access and reach.
  • Education & Training: A structured lifelong learning pathway led by EduWeek, complemented by interprofessional qualifications (including EDISC), continuing professional development, webinars, and e-learning.
  • Research: Supports high-quality spine research through grants, training, networks, and collaborative initiatives that build evidence and enable benchmarking (e.g., Spine Atlas).
  • Spine Tango: EUROSPINE’s global registry powering outcomes monitoring, quality assurance, multi-centre research, long-term safety tracking, and evidence-based advocacy.

History

EUROSPINE was founded on 26 June 1998, in Innsbruck, Austria as a result of the merger of two European spine societies, namely the European Spine Society (ESS) and the European Spinal Deformity Society (ESDS). Since then, EUROSPINE has grown into a leading organisation for spine specialists in Europe, promoting education, research, and collaboration in the field of spine care.
