Results & Impact

Structured international evidence where previously only national data existed.

Spine Atlas 2025 – Lumbar Degenerative Spondylolisthesis (LDS)

1,600+
surgical cases

30
participating countries

Hospital- and registry-based contributions

Key Observations

  • Variation in decompression versus fusion strategies
  • Differences across countries
  • Associations with patient characteristics

These findings demonstrate the feasibility and relevance of harmonised international mapping.

You can watch the presentation recording from EUROSPINE 2025 to explore these preliminary findings.

The outcome of the data call is currently under preparation for publication. Results and manuscripts will be published in the second half of 2026.

Methodological Insights

The first data call confirmed feasibility of harmonised international data pooling, practical implementation of a core dataset structure, and the importance of contextual metadata. These insights inform ongoing and future data calls.

Spine Atlas 2026 – DCM

First findings will be presented at the EUROSPINE Annual Meeting 2026 in Gothenburg.

Long-Term Impact

Spine Atlas aims to progressively build a structured international reference for spine epidemiology and treatment variation across healthcare systems.
