6th Advanced Workshop on Thoracic Lumbar and Spinopelvic Surgery

This advanced spine surgery course provides a specialized learning environment for senior orthopaedic and neurosurgery residents and early-career spine fellows seeking to enhance their expertise in spinal interventions. The curriculum combines in-depth lectures and hands-on training, covering spinal anatomy, surgical approaches for spine pathology and trauma, indications and contraindications, and instrumentation.

Participants will engage in practical sessions with full spine anatomical specimens, focused on surgical interventions from the thoracic to sacral regions, including both open and minimally invasive techniques. Practical training is conducted with an expert-to-participant ratio of one-to-two, offering individualized guidance on key procedures such as pedicle screw placement, spinopelvic fixation, lumbar and thoracic osteotomies, interbody fusion techniques, microdiscectomy, and decompression techniques under microscope magnification.

Hosted at the University of Ioannina, this course aims to establish a solid foundation for participants pursuing a career in spine surgery, combining theoretical knowledge with essential hands-on skills.
