This module aims to support learners in developing an interprofessional approach to the assessment, diagnosis, and management of spinal pain across the continuum of care. Sessions 1 and 2 will focus on understanding the limitations of physical examination and imaging, as well as recognising cultural differences between professions when formulating a diagnosis. The impact of comorbidities on persistent back pain and the role of the biopsychosocial model in understanding spinal pain will also be discussed. Sessions 3 and 4 will aim to co-develop evidence-based and best-practice management plans for patients presenting with spinal pain with or without radiculopathy. These management plans will be tailored to the individual needs and characteristics of each patient, emphasising collaborative decision-making and interprofessional care.
