The EUROSPINE Blended Learning Approach

The EduWeek adopts a blended learning approach consisting of an online (asynchronous) and a live (synchronous) component. Acquiring knowledge takes place with lecture videos online. Deepening of learning takes place live with case based discussions and skills workshops.

PART 1: E-learning Component (Asynchronous)
Each EduWeek module consists of an e-learning component, available for registered participants on the EUROSPINE learning platform before the live sessions in Strasbourg.

The content mirrors the live sessions and includes recorded video lectures and quizzes that must be completed. The e-learning component is available for registered participants from early April until the end of EduWeek. The e-learning part of the modules is self-paced, meaning once enrolled by our team, participants can complete the content at their own pace. Participants are advised to complete the e-learning modules before the live sessions take place.

Please note:
  • Only participants who have paid the registration will be given access to the modules.
  • The e-learning component contains knowledge checks that must be completed.
  • This component is completed on our e-learning platform, unlike the live sessions that take place face-to-face and for which physical attendance is mandatory.

PART 2: Live Component (Synchronous)
EduWeek live sessions build on the e-learning component, which is to be completed by the time participants attend the live event. Live sessions aim to bring participants and faculty together to engage in intensive, case based discussions that will enhance and deepen the learning. This can also include lab sessions, depending on the modules booked.

Please note:
  • The live component takes places over three full days at IRCAD in Strasbourg/France. Physical attendance is mandatory!
  • It is not possible to join the sessions virtually!
  • Participants are required to make their own travel arrangements.

CME Accreditation and Compliance

Accreditation by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) is pending.

Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Through an agreement between the Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Information on the process to convert EACCME® credit to AMA credit can be found at www.ama-assn.org/education/earn-credit-participation-international-activities.

Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, recognised by the UEMS-EACCME® for ECMEC®s are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Participation in the whole module is mandatory (online and live components) as well as the completion of the course evaluation and assessments in order to receive the CME certificates:

  • CME credits for the e-learning are awarded after completing the e-learning component.
  • CME credits for the live component are awarded separately upon completion of the live component.
  • Module completion is achieved only after the completion of both the e-learning and live components.
