Fellowship Validation

IMPORTANT CHANGES

***The EUROSPINE Advanced Diploma will be phased out in the coming year/s. Advanced Modules 1 and 2 will still be available and can be completed on their own, but are not tied to a fellowship.

We are currently working on a transition plan that allows individuals who have started their fellowship (or will still be doing a fellowship in the near future) to have an appropriate transition time to complete all requirements to achieve the Advanced Diploma is it currently stands.

Please watch this space for further information on the process of these changes***

For questions please contact the Education Team at .

Guidelines

Fellows can choose to perform their fellowship

  • in a EUROSPINE Surgical Spine Centre of Excellence (SSCoE).
  • in a non-EUROSPINE Surgical Spine Centre of Excellence (Non-SSCoE). In this case, fellows are required to ask EUROSPINE for the approval of their fellowship at the chosen host centre prior to the fellowship taking place (3-months in advance). This must be done in writing at . The centre will be assessed based on the quality criteria described in EUROSPINE SSCoE guidelines to ensure it meets criteria for appropriate education (see below SSCoE criteria check-list for download).

Please read the fellowship validation guidelines carefully before applying.

Important information

EUROSPINE will not provide the fellow with any support, financial compensation, salary or grant. Fellows are responsible to organise their fellowship directly with their chosen host centre.

How to apply?

Applicants will apply for fellowship validation as follows:

1. If their fellowship was performed in a EUROSPINE Surgical Spine Centre of Excellence (SSCoE), applicants must apply through the fellowship validation online application and provide a certificate stating that at least 6 months of fellowship was perform in a SSCoE.

2. In case the fellowship is to be performed in a non-EUROSPINE Surgical Spine Centre of Excellence (SSCoE), applicants must seek approval from EUROSPINE that the centre can be approved as their host centre at least 3 months prior to the start of the fellowship. This must be done in writing by contacting our office at .
The EUROSPINE checklist for non-SSCoE centres confirming the centres meets SSCoE quality criteria must be completed and signed by the fellowship host centre head of department and returned to EUROSPINE at .
Once the fellowship at the approved non-SSCoE centres has been performed, applicants will need to apply for the validation of their fellowship through the online application form.

We can only process and review complete applications including the required above-mentioned documents and information regarding the fellowship and host centre. Please ensure your application is complete before sending it.

Applications will be assessed based on the relevance of the fellowship to the fellow’s training and capacity of the host training centre to provide appropriate education and support to the fellow.

Applicants will be informed via e-mail of the decision regarding the approval of their fellowship host centre or fellowship validation.
