Invitation from the EuroSpine President
To the Members of EuroSpine, the Spine Society of Europe
Dear Colleagues and Friends

Time has flown and this year’s Euro-Spine Meeting is only 10 weeks away. Everard Munting, Chairman of the organising committee, and his team have put together an exceptionally fine meeting and are looking forward to welcoming you to Brussels from 2nd to 6th of October.

Details of the programme are now available on the Eurospine Website and also the local meeting website and you will see that scientifically the meeting is once more first class. The social programme is exciting and the meeting promises to deliver in full measure on the two objectives of scientific progress and having fun with friends and colleagues.

The society itself is growing and moving forward. Over the years the Society has dedicated itself to research and teaching. The Education Committee under this year’s Chairman Haluk Berk has run highly successful courses and the academic programme is moving forward successfully.

The success of the EuroSpine Meeting has meant that the Society has more funding available and it is now time to consider future progress. The Executive Committee has been debating setting up a Foundation dedicated to Education and Research in the Spine. The advantages of such a Foundation would be in attracting funding from commercial and other sources to increase education and research activities that we are able to undertake. The Foundation will be discussed at this year’s Annual General Meeting and the Executive and I would warmly welcome your input and opinion.

There are also vacancies for a number of the Sub-Committees of the Society. The Sub-Committees operate on a rotational basis and each member will spend the final year as Chairman and hence have a seat on the main Executive Committee. There are two vacancies for the programme committee, and one each for the membership committee, the educational committee, the workshop committee and the awards committee. Any nomination for these committees must be supported by two members of the Society and should be sent to the secretariat by Friday 31st of August 2007.

I hope that you will all have a pleasant and enjoyable Summer and look forward to seeing you all in Brussels at EuroSpine 2007.

Yours sincerely

Professor Charles G Greenough MD MChir FRCS
President, Spine Society of Europe
